Superlatives about the Antique Rug & Textile Show 2009
"The greatest thanks are due to those who helped to put the terrific SF Arts Capri show together, and especially to Michael Craycraft for negotiating the many hurdles of hospitality, display, signage, dealer invitations, publicity, reservations, informational materials, etc., etc. It was an important event for all those who care greatly about the world of carpets and textiles, both dealers and collectors. The quality and variety of items on display, as well as the intimacy fostered by the venue, created a much needed shot in the arm for rug lovers from around the globe, and particularly for California/Bay Area collectors and enthusiasts many of whom, myself included, were in heaven.
Naturally the opportunity to meet and share thoughts with experts in various genres of tribal woven arts was of enormous personal and educational significance, and there was no absence of distinguished collectors and dealers in attendance. It is rumored that the show will be repeated. As this type of event assures visitors and dealers that they will be able to spend quality time together, as opposed to just dropping by a booth in a more formal venue such as the Tribal Arts show, it is something that all of us look forward to with more than a little excitement. Kudos to all!"
